About Black Women's Wellness
My passion, My Why
— the initiative
Hi, I'm Erin and I am the founder of Black Women’s Wellness, a passion initiative of Thomas Therapeutics, LLC.
Black Women’s Wellness began in October of 2020. As a Black woman in southeastern Louisiana, I was overcome with the news of several lynchings all around the country. In the midst of “Say Her Name” and “I Can’t Breathe,” I found myself in a space where I could not remember ALL of the names of those slain and I was suffocated by the anger, frustration, and other feelings that I could no longer contain.
The impetus for Black Women’s Wellness was a selfish one, I admit. But it was one that I knew was being felt across the world by Black men, women, and children alike. And though, the initial impact has felt minute, we are becoming a phenomenon across southeast Baton Rouge that is far-reaching and overarching into nearby parishes, counties, and states.
The Black woman who was dragged across the Mid-Atlantic and survived The Crossing chained to her brethren, bereft of her children, and never to see home, again–her traumas live inside us. Her very blood that courses through our veins and reminds us of who we are when we glance in the mirror, is the same blood that carries her DNA.
